Please help,from a stressed husband.thanks?

Hiya,need your proffesional advice.
My wife has recently undergone emergency envasive surgery, ovarian absess. She was bombarded with antibiotics by drip, morphine etc,the hospital staff were very professional, and i have maximum respect
She has put on 2 and a half stone in 4 days.she was a size six,she is very hormonal ,and teary, and i can do no right.
She would like to no if the swelling of hear body will decrease,i think its called retention,
and can she speed this process up,thanks for reading this,,,regards,a stressed out loving husband
Answer:
oh you are an angel, yes it will go down, it isn a side affect of her current state, hormones are bastards for causing fluid retention, she will be back to normal in no time, but taking a slow and sure recovery from major surgery is more important than being thin again, it's the hormones and stress causing her to lash out, just imagine that it isn't her speaking to you, because it really isn't, hormones are mad bad dangerous things, and without them, billions of men around the world would be alot happier. Hope she gets better soon, tell her to take it easy.xx
yes it will resolve itself it the medication
ask the doc about diuretic tablets to clear the retention
2 and a half stone? What is that? I think its normal for women to be hormonal after surgeries on their ovaries (where estrogen hormones are produced). My mom's ovaries stopped functioning later in her life, and she definitely was not fun to be around until her hormones were normalized with replacement therapy. Your wife will eventually be normal again when everything settles. It's difficult, but try to be patient with her, and keep doing nice things. It will pass...Good luck!
you can't rush the healing process-she's on alot of meds and all the iv fluids are making her gain weight, especially if she's on prednisone or any other steroid med.You need to talk to the doctors about your concerns, not over the internet.Give her time and things will calm down.I hate to say that the weight issue at this time is immaterial to her overall health. That will subside as the meds and iv's are discontinued.Good luck.
You must be a husband in a million, your wife is very lucky to have you. Yes she will lose the weight, I'm surprised they haven't put her on something like Frusemide to get rid of the excess fluid. A quiet word with the hospital staff might help. Give your wife my best wishes and I hope she feels better soon.
Its fluid retention. She really needs to get rid of it and I would get her GP to come out to see her again. She will need a diuretic, however it may require further hospitalisation. Dont let this alarm you, I know your stressed as it is. Definately call the doctor as the retention has to be rid of. The withdrawal from morphine will be causing her to ne emotional and even irrational. This will ease in a few days. Also the anaesthetic will make her sleepy for a few days, it can take a few weeks in some cases. She will start to feel better soon but call the doctor about the weight gain and retention.
