Prickly heat?

Just got back from spain and got prickly heat again! Its very annoying as i have darkish skin and use a very high factor sun screen.Anyone got any ideas how to treat it when this happens or even how to prevent it ?
Answer:
I agree prickly heat is very annoying!
I'm not a dermatologist but if I remember correctly prickly heat is effectively an allergic reaction to the ultraviolet light.
The only way to prevent it by using high SPF creams/ sunblock or avoiding the UV light. Antihistamines will reduce the allergic reaction once it has occurred but I suppose you could try and prevent it with them.
apply cucumber juice to skin.
Calamine lotion will cool the skin down you can buy it at the local supermarket or chemist
Oat meal bath did the trick for me when i took a trip to Egypt. Not Actual oatmeal. But if you go to the pharmacy, they will know what your talking about.. its cheap too!
I use calamine lotion, it's great, it just takes all the itch away and smells nice too!!
You can use prickly heat powder or cream. They have a very cooling effect. The cream lasts longer. Check your pharmacist. Or you could check out the pakistani/indian grocery stores.
take some anti-histamin tablets like benydryl before you go on holiday they may help also try calamine lotion.
Next time you know you are going to be exposed to sunlight for an extended period see your doctor and ask him/her to prescribe an antihistamine for you.

Prevention is better than cure?

They say prevention is better than cure, but sometimes we dont no what damage we are causing ourselves. It might be cause we did this damage when we was young an it is paying off in later life or that we just didnt know. Either way some things can not be helped if you do not understand what damage you are doing to your body. What part of you do you wish you could have a second go with now you are more wiser?
If you have no problems then no need to comment.Ill start, mine is my teeth although I cleaned them it runs in my family for weak teeth so now I am older its starting to pay and its all coming at once.
Answer:
I'll agree with the teeth. Mine were fine and I was complacent, and then when I got pregnant each time with my two children they pretty much crumbled away for nine months. My dentist has warned me if I have any more kids my teeth wont survive it. But if I had developed better habits rather than presuming they would always be as good as they were then it might have been less dramatic
i wish i'd been at bit more risk taking,
now i'm really cautious about everything i do
I have a bad sunburn on my back that won't go away for years.
I was vacationing in a nice, picturesque resort island 3 years go... but I didn't sunbath. I just swam and played in the water for hours. I did apply sunscreen spf 50 waterproof before I got into the water. But you know how there're just some spot that we cn't reach on our back. And I forgot to ask my friend to apply it for me, because I was to excited to go snorkeling. Afterwards...the skin on my back was burning. I applied aloe cream right away. But the pain won't go away for weeks. Three years... it's getting better now, but still there're frekles and light brown spotchesand my tank top's line. I'm still self-concious about it whenever I wear backless top. If I have a second chance...well you know what would I do...
Are you for real, sounds like i know what part you need. A BRAIN. ( sorry, had to be said!)
My maternal grandmother was an alcoholic. My mother is a neurotic. I am only manic depressive. My system was genetically affected through my maternal grandmothers' alcoholism.
Now i treat the cause and not the symptoms.
I avoid pharmaceutcal solutions.. Treat the cause, not the symptoms.
There no piont in saying, i wish i had, if you can't take life as a learning curve your old age will hurt even more ...

Prevention is better than cure "OR" Cure is better than prevention?

I think people will choose prevention is better than cure but are they prevent before cure? Or people just look at fact?
Answer:
PREVENTION PREVENTION PREVENTIONIn all cases. Once something happens where a cure is needed to fix it, it has gone beyond the point of ever returning to it's natural state. Even if a cure is found and applied, it can never be as good or as similar as it once was.Example:You accidentally put a hole in a wall. You can calk it, re-plaster it, re-paint it, but it will always be suseptable and vulnerable, because it is weaker. Same with a broken bone, aging skin, etc.
If you prevent then there is no need for a cure. But a cure is nice when there is an unfortunate reason for it.
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" ."they" always say. :)
Of course prevention is better than cure.

Preventing new adhesions?

I have adhesions from stomach to diaphragm, I had a surgey to remove them before but they have grew back, is this a life long problem that will prevent me from ever working or exercising again?... I'm a very active person but can no longer do anything because of the pain, any stretching techniques or type of surgery to end this?
Answer:
I'm very sorry :( But my advice is to talk to your doctor, get as many advices as you can. Hope you feel better soon.
You may want to read about it too, here's a link I found:

Preventing diabetes?

how can i prevent diabetes? i really need to know becausei'm getting tested in july...so yea.
Answer:
If you have a genetic tendancy for diabetes, there is probably not much you can do to prevent getting it.Probably the one most important step is to Keep your way under control.
Preventing Type 2 diabetes is to low your sugar intake and exercise so you're not overweight but I'm not sure how you would prevent Type 1 diabetes.
Best way to prevent Diabetes Type 2 is by diet and exercise. The reason people get diabetes is because of the ount of fat on them. When that happens, insulin resistence occurs, hence one needs insulin shots to compensate. So eat healthy and decrease amount of carbs/sugar and hit the gym girl!
preventing the disease diabetes?take good care of your self, now if you already messed that up?I'll tell you my story and my brothers,OK?here's mine, i was pre diabetic, my blood sugars i couldn't seem to get under control, so i changed my diet, got regular exercise, and now, I'm all clear as long as i continue to take good care of myself, my doctor said, i turned back the hands of time!my brother, has a job on the road, hes a single guy,he never cooked for himself, he ate breakfast, lunch, dinner at fast food places everyday, he was tired, gain a lot of weight, eye sight was getting bad, and some other things, like headaches and stuff, while talking to someone who was diabetic, this person-noticed the severe signs and had him go directly to Doctor, where the doctor put him in hospital for 2 weeks, he under went classes on insulin shots and learning how to eat properly, when he got out of hospital, he cleaned his whole house and fridge of bad foods, his new fast food place became subway, it is really good for you,he started exercising, lost 90 pounds and turned his life around, no more diabetic meds ,no more insulin, no more diabetes as long as he takes care of himself, so just ex cerise and eat healthy, you should be fine!!!!!!
One type is genetic and not preventable. It is an autoimmune disease. The other type is prevented by eating a ketogenic diet.
If it runs in your family then you may be predisposed to getting it. But, If you eat healthy ALL the time, Lots of whole grain foods, food in the low G.I., restrict sugars and fats, exercise ... you may keep it all in check.. you do NOT have to be fat or obese to get this disease or drink alcohol. (People that are over-weight, drink alcohol and eat a high content of fats and sugars can become diabetic... but not always. ) So bottom line is IF it runs in your family take precautions NOW and eat accordingly and exercise. You can stay prediabetic and keep it all in check and never hit Type 2... its up to you.

Prevent spread of athlete's foot?

I have been living with athlete's foot for years and it has never spread to any other areas of my body or to anyone else, but I'm worried that it will one day. How do I prevent the spread of athlete's foot? And if my feet does not show any signs of infection, does that mean that the fungus can't spread? Sometimes my athlete's foot goes away, or is not noticeable such as when winter comes.
Answer:
Athlete's foot is caused by a fungus that likes moist, warm feet. Add a huge accent on "moist", as it will not grow without moisture. The first thing to do is dry your feet after you wash them. Then wear cotton socks only, until the condition is alleviated. Check out the shoes you are wearing as tight, restraining, shoes contribute to sweating and dampness, and they inhibit evaporation. Open shoes/sandals are a great idea. Change the socks whenever they get wet. Use rubbing alcohol after your feet are dry. This will not necessarily kill the fungus, but it will dry the skin more than a towel can do, and it will inhibit growth of the fungus.Use medication on your feet. There are several medications available from your local pharmacy. Talk to the pharmacist about it. Powders may be best, as they help to keep the foot dry for a longer time. Clean out the powder when you change socks and/or shoes. If you feel the problems is serious, discuss it with your doctor.

Pressure in the lower belly caused by intestinal parasites?

Back in may 2006 i drank water that was perhaps contaminated, near a farm. Since january 2007 i experience presure in the lower abdomen. At first I felt it only on the left side but then it spread to the right side. I've asked a doctor and he told me it was perhaps an accumulation of hard to digest things that i ate. But that should be gone long ago because i drink alot of orange juice and have no regularity problems. I know the spawn time of many parasites that live in used water is like 6 months so i'm worried.
Answer:
I am guessing with that answer you went to a homeopath or chiropractor. (A lot of those people are "stuck" on the accumulated poo theory as the basis of all disease including but not limited to diabetes, cancer, ulcers, etc.)
First of all, a chiropractor has NOT been to medical school. They do NOT have an MD. Homeopaths are usually along the same line.
The best way to determine if you have a parasite or some other infection is to go to a REAL Medical Doctor and get a stool sample, etc. done. They will use REAL medical testing (like looking at your stool under a microscope or doing a culture to determine the problem.
Good Luck!
your realy stupid to drink such water
Do an intestinal/parasite cleanse. Go to a health food store. They'll help you.
Pressure in the lower belly is cased by the distension and problems with the large bowel or pelvic organs. So many different conditions can cause symptoms in the same area. So please see a real doctor so that your problem can be diagnosed.
Go to a Gastrologist ( a doctor who specializes in stomach disorders) and let them do some tests. They can help you. Good luck!
I had this problem yesterday, I went to the Emergency Room and they told me it was one of three things:*If you are a girl it could be menustration pains
*You are not hydrated enough and your intestines are trying to pass through to the other side
*you could have a thing called appendisitisTry jumping up and down if you start hurting really bad then go to an emergency room right now because if you wait too long( and I am not kidding), your appendix can actually BLOW UP!Your appendix doesn't really do anything for your body but one of the symptoms of appendicitis is that your sides will hurt.BADLY!
if you are still experiencing this i recommend you go back to the doc. even if you don't have any other symptoms you could have some sort of abdominal peritonitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc, which require further examination. It probably doesn't have to do with the water you drank since this was in 2006 and most bacterias and parasites/viruses cause other symptoms such as diarrea, nausea, abdominal cramps, flu like symptoms not just abdominal pressure. and you would have probably become symptomatic a long time ago.i would recommend that you go back to the doc, as ascites and abdominal pressure/inflammation can be symptoms of a more serious condition.
Its possible that you drank water contaminated with Giardia.
This is the most common parasitical infection of this type.
The diagnosis is through stool sample. Treatment is with a drug called Flagyl. It can remain in the system for a long time, if not treated, and can have flares followed by a remission of symptoms. Talk to your doctor about this possibility.
Have you asked your doctor to refer you to a gastroenterologist specialist? It might be also be stress related. See a specialist!

Prescription for metronidazole or azithromycin?

do i still need prescription in case i need to buy metronidazole or azithromycin?
Answer:
Yes, as long as you are in the US.
Yes, you absolutely do! You can't get that without a prescription.
Yes, one is Flagyl and the other is Zithromax. Both are antibiotics and both need prescriptions.

Prescribed a swish and swallow medication explain?

medications are benadryl, Nysatin,prelon
Answer:
The medication has different meds to treat your symptoms. By swishing it coats the entire area of the mouth and by swallowing you are getting the medication internally to also combat the symptom. Benadryl is an antihistimine Nystatin is for oral cavity fungal infections and Prelone is a corticosteroid used to treat severe allergies, arthritis, asthma, and skin conditions.
A swish and swallow medicine is exactly as it is. Swish around in your mouth, then swallow. usually given for thrush, mouth sores...ect.
Never heard of this, but my guess is that your mouth absorbs medication often much faster than that which is swallowed. That is why heart patients put nitroglycerin under the tongue. Acts very rapidly.

Pregnant and not curable?

ok any disease for a mother as far as warts, herpes and any other disease thats not curable, are supose to have c-section right? so if the mother does a vaginal what are the chances for the baby? will the baby have it?
Answer:
As a healthcare provider I can tell you that you are a little misinformed about this. These conditions are not an automatic condition for a c-section. Herpes that is not in "outbreak" during the time of labor and delivery is usually OK for a vaginal delivery. (And also the opinion of the attending midwife or doctor)Warts are variable depending on the size and location. HIV does not warrent a c-section either. So this question is actually a very individual thing.depends on the person.the specific disease.other diseases existing...so ask your healthcare provider.
These r questions you should ask a doctor, ob-gyn. I know this is a message board, but 1/2 of these people r not experts. there r a few who will give u informative web-sites 2 visit. good luck ..
ask yr dr
I'm not a gynecologist but I'll take a look. lol
I have HPV. Genetile warts. I thought I was going to have to have a C-section as well, my OB/GYN kind of laughed. He told me that the baby will not come in direct contact with the disease. I don't have warts anymore and I only had a few. But you always carry the virus. As far as Herpes I cannot honestly answer that.
I have HPV associated with genital warts and when I got pregnant I did take the c-section option. It lowers the babies risk of contracting the STD. I also do not alow my now 3 year old daughter to use certain towles in the house even if they have been washed I never let her drink after me and she is not allowed in my bed under the covers. Just as extra precautionairy measures. If you do have an STD your doctor should know about it so he can make an informed decision WITH YOU on the best options for you and your unborn child.

Pregnancy or flu help?!?

this wed. i found out i was pregnant. that day i was at the ER with my husband b/c he had some kind of virus. im not sure if i caught some of what he had or this is how im going to feel being pregnant. my body is aching really bad and im very worn down. ive never been pregnant before so im not sure what to expect. any advice?!
Answer:
First of all, congratulations! Not on the flu but on the baby!Being very tired is a sign of early pregnancy, but body aches are generally not. What are your husband's symptoms? If yours are the same you should see your doctor right away.Don't self medicate during pregnancy as even the most innocuous thing, even herbal remedies, can have negative effects during pregnancy. You might want to get your husband taking an immune supplement so that he stays healthy during your pregnancy and doesn't pass stuff on to you. Try Immune Alert -- it's an all-natural immune booster my family takes. Go to www.immunealert.com and get a free sample (you pay shipping). Again, you should check with your doctor before taking but it will be great for your husband!
well did u take a test?

Prednisone question?

It is a stereoid presribed with my antibiotics for my strep throat, it says (take 3 tablets by mouth for 4 days)...sorry i may just be really fatigued and cant think properly but does this mean take 3 in a row or take 1 every 8 hours or so?
Answer:
YOU NEED TO CALL YOUR PHYSICIAN and ask this question, they prescribed it to you. Don't be embarassed, it's better to be sure about these things.
take 3 tabs means 1 tab every 8 hours
3 a day--for four days
call your pharmaicst who filled your prescrition as they can tell you that.
You could take them all at once but if they upset your stomach you could split the dose up.
What is the mg prescribed? I am surprised that you were prescribed steroids for strep. Please call a pharmacy for dosing instructions, if you cannot call the doctor. Feel better soon!
When I had to take a synthetic form of prednisone that was in a 7 day pack and got to where I had to take 3 tablets I took it one 3 times a day.I would recommend double checking with your pharmacist to see what they say.
I've been on prednisone twice in the last 3 months for sinus infections. My doctor had a dosage chart for me to follow. I was also on what they call a "5 day dose pack" prescibed by my surgeon for inflammation in my shoulder. The dose pack had specifci times to take it. Usually, it's best to spread the doses out which helps keep it more level in your system. However, doctor knows best. I'd double check for reassurance.
Please call the pharmacy, I will tell you why. Prednisone and other coricosteroids are usually taken in divided doses. It is important because although Prednisone is a great drug and will rally help your throat taken wrongly it could have side effects like damage your kidneys. Also you do not state the dose in mgs. Prednisone if taken in sufficent dose has to be tailed off and nto stopped abruptly, again it would be detrimental to your system. So calle the pharmacy or the doctor and ask how he wants you to take them, and if you need to reduce the dose to withdraw from them. These are not stupid questions, it is stupid that this has not been made clear to you.
One every 8 hours not 3 in a row. i have been on predisone several times..
la .pretencion es UN noninflammatory potent Peri darning a largo plaza para Laos Rianon's.
most likely that is meant to be take 3 tabs at once each day . mostly in the morning . however if you have a question about the meds then call the pharmacy that gave them to you.
prednisone is one that can be complicated and involved different amounts each day as it is often started at one dose and then less and less each day .
i suggest you call the pharmacist
Take all three tablets once a day for three days.I would suggest that you take them first thing in the morning, prednisone tends to wind you up, give you loads of energy. If you take it before bed, you might not be able to sleep.

Prednisone for poison ivy + weight gain?

My doctor prescribed Prednisone 10mg tablets to clear my poison ivy. I have to take the medicaton for 12 days as follows: 4 tablets daily for 3 days, then 3 tablets daily for 3 days, then 2 tablets daily for 3 dys, then 1 tablet daily for 3 days. I have read that weight gain is a side effect of Prednisone. With the amount of miligrams I am taking, will weight gain really be a factor? I do not want to gain any weight from this medication, and the doctor told me I will not gain any weight. Is this true?
Answer:
I've taken prednisone for poison ivy reactions and didn't gain weight. You don't take it long enough to have that side effect. You only take the full dose for a couple weeks until the allergic reaction resolves then you taper off. People can gain weight but it's people who have to take it for longer periods for more chronic conditions.
No, weight gain is for long term use, that is why the doctor is eliminating a pill a day to wean you off of it.
hey, i just got put on the same thing and i am really curious about that too. mine is for 8 days though. I am on day 3 today. so far i have not gained weight, have you? i am trying to stay very active, like walking 2 miles every morning and such. good luck.

Prednisone and Drinking?

I was just (monday) prescribed prednisone for poison oak on my face. If i stop taking on friday for the weekend is partying and drinking ok? I am taking 4 pills/day for a few days then down to 3 pills/day and so on...
Answer:
Prednisone is not something that you can take whenever you feel like it. It's also a drug that has to be stopped gradually, which is why your dose is tapered by one pill per day. Drink when you're finished with the medicine. Prednisone is not something that should be played with.
You might also put on 30 to 40 lbs with this stuff It does fuild retention, then try to get rid of it

Prednisone and anxiety depression?

My father has Emphysema, has been on 40mg Pred. for months now, and his new Dr is weaning him off 20mg at a time over the next couple of weeks, he says he feels horrible, no energy, depressed and anxious, anyone have any input for me?
Answer:
WOW! I have never heard of dropping so quickly before. I was weaned down to 15 mg. and have a difficult time getting to 10 mg. Yesterday my doctor made me go to 10 mg. for 30 days. Then I am sure he will attempt dropping to 5 mg. for 30 days in hopes I can do it and be rid of the Prednisone until I get sick again. I take Xanax for my anxiety and I could not live without it. My pulmonary doctor does not believe in that either. I get it from my primary care doctor. My pulmonary doctor's attitude is, "live with it." I don't like him much. I feel very badly for your dad. I know what he is experiencing. I think that drop is way too much to expect from anyone with emphysema. I couldn't do it.
prednisone sucks. I take it pretty often for Cystic Fibrosis. When you have been on high doses like that and weaning off your body doesn't know how to react and its almost like withdrawals. His dr is right about the riding it out but he should only be dropping like 5 mg every couple weeks not 20. that could be the problem right there. His dr should consider going at a slower pace.
I agree. 40 to 20 mg is a big drop. He needs to be slowly weaned off. Ultimately your dr is right, the withdrawal symptoms have to be ridden out.
I had one Dr start me oon 70 mg of predisone, weened me off 10 mg per week down to 10 mg, My pulmanologist made the final doses of 5 mg I found that they gave me too many meds for emphysema. I weaned my self off from all but 2 drugs and began to feel better I do only spiriva for long term and asmenex for wheezing with albuterol as a resuce drug hth

Prednisone (steroid) question.PLEASE HELP!?

I was put on 60mg of prednisone (steroids) for three days, for an accidental chlorine inhalation, however because of the severe heartburn, I took two yesterday and am supposed to take one today (doctors suggestion). My question/fear is I have been reading that stopping steroids can cause real problems. Please let me know if anyone else has been on steroids for a short time and if they had any physical symptoms stopping them. I read that it can even cause death. P.S. I SUFFER FROM PANIC ATTACKS, SO I AM NERVOUS ENOUGH ANYWAY :)
Answer:
Relax, worrying is not going to help. But you mentioned something that is very important with Prednisone.
You said "I took two yesterday and am supposed to take one today (doctors suggestion)." When you take Prednisone either for short or a long time the key is not to stop them SUDDENLY you must wean your self off of them, and it sounds like that's what your doctor suggested cause today you are just going to take one tab. You are being weaned off of them, do you see that?
You will be fine.
NO HUNNY YOURE OK BUT ALLWAYS REMEMBER TO FOLLOW DOCS ORDERS
Short courses of steroids should not be a problem. Its when you take it for a long time (weeks or months) that you may have problems when you stop suddenly.
No you will be OK. I had to take almost 2 months worth just a few months ago for a major bronchitis infection.I took them all and when they were done it had no ill effect on me.
Short dose steriods are very effictive and safe for what the Dr has prescribed them for - if you are having heartburn take with milk and a slice of bread - also take tums. you should take them - the full 7 or 14 days that was perscribed. Mostly because what they were prescribed for is to keep the inflamation down in your lungs so that they will have time to heal without you getting more serious problems. I have asthma and have been on and off them since I was about 15 - when the asthma gets out of control then I have to do a short burst 7 - 14 days. Please know that there are better ways to deal with the heartburn than stoppign the prednisone. Try to keep on them - its only a few days... and like I said take with milk to mask the taste and coat your tummy - also take with a slice of bread - again to give your tum something else to work on. If you still have heartburn - turn to the old fave -- chewable tums... Good luck to you - stick with it - it will be better for your lungs that sustained the damage during your accident. Also a note - stop reading all the possible side effects - it will give you them everytime --- also who wouldn't panic if you ever read all the things they have to list that anything can maybe ever possibly do to you .
Dont worry yourself over three days worth of steroids!! Problems only occur for people who rely on steroids long term and even then there are not huge problems in every case, only some people have problems. I am on a steroid nasal spray which is a long term thing and have NEVER had any problems when I've ran out of it or forgotten to take it for a while. I have also taken steroid medications for my sinuses which are probably similar to the medications you are taking now and I have never had any ill effects from them. I am curious how you inhaled chlorine in the first place.do you have a swimming pool you were treating? I hope things are better for you soon but dont let this make you nervous!
It's important to take the steroids as proscribed by the doctor. There is a set schedule, and it's important not to vary the time table.Don't take the pills on an empty stomach. Steroids can make you nauseated and constipated so eat lots of fiber and drink water. If you have more questions, call and speak to a nurse in the doctor's office.
Thats normal Start with 40 to 60 mg then taper down to 5 or 10
My young son took Prednisone for asthma that got out of hand. He has used it maybe 4 times in his 12 years. He didn鈥檛 have any side effects. The only thing they told me is if he needed surgery for a year after taking it, make sure the doctors know. I do not remember why. It does make your heart race so if you need to calm down, you may want to ask your doctor or nurse if there is something over the counter you can take. I had a nurse practitioner that was helping me with my anxiety tell me to take a dose of Benadrl for an instant calming. It may make you drowsy and I would check with doctors first, to make sure that is ok to mix the two meds. Breathing deep and holding it for 5 seconds about 10 times does wonders too. Breathe in and out slowly and fill your lungs all the way.
I've used oral Prednisone from the time I was 14 until 35 (I'm 47 now and use Advair Diskus instead without any problem). But I was a chronic and severe asthmatic and back then I had to take large doses of Prednisone sometimes. I've heard every horror story of prednisone imaginable, but you know what? I never had longterm disasterous results from taking large doses and weaning off slow, or suffered any problems with my bone density, nor any stomach/intenstinal problems. The last time I had to take oral prednisone was 2 years ago when I had a bronchial infection and it was for 3 days and I simply forgot to take the 3rd days dose and it didn't cause any problem. What Prednisone does cause problems for me is in my mental health area. I have Bipolar Disorder and it can trigger immediate and severe manic attacks, so my doctor doesn't like to prescribe it unless absolutely necessary. Anyway, I have tapered off it very slowly and also just stopped suddenly and I am still alive and fine. I think you'll be okay. Doctors don't have every answer, you know.

Preauricular sinuses (hole on ear)?

Um I have a question on Preauricular sinuses
I checked it up online and am not really sure what it is
Some sources say that it's a hole on a certain part of the ead, and if so, I have one too. It's been there for probably 15-16 years already, and I'm guessing it's from birth
However, I got really creeped out when I see all the infections...
I am a little scared, despite the fact that the hole hasn't been affecting me at all, except for occasional itchiness. If possible, would someone who's had experience, or know about it please help me? I don't know know what to do with it, and am wondering if it's fatal or hurtful/burdensome in any way?
Answer:
A preauricular sinus occurs is a congenital malformation that occurs due to an incomplete fusion of the branchial clefts (these are different segments that make up your face and ears). A sinus is basically a blind ending pouch. Therefore it is a route through which fluid and bacteria can accumulate and this can result in an infection. It is not fatal and if it has not been bothering you it is fine. However if there is some discharge or rash or redness, go see your doctor. It is associated with recurrent infections and can be surgically removed as well.

Pre diabetic?

I am over wieght and my doctors says that I am my way of being type 2 diabetic... How long until I am diabetic and what exact food should I avoid. I had by sugar tested and they said it was high. just wondering how long I will l last if I dont change
thanks.I am tired all the time I get wierd feelings in my arm and legs (numbness) I also get horrible headaches (migranes) with a whomp whomp in my ears...
thanks
Answer:
My thoughts are for you to find a doc who will guide you thru this. Maybe the one you have but certainly one who knows diabetes. Then learn as much as you can about the disease-there are tons of resources. A good place to start is to study what the complications are for diabetes. If that doesn't scare you enough nothing will. While you are learning start losing weight-excercise and diet can help with that and you need to start immediately. If you are diligent and lose the weight your blood pressure will go down too. I'll bet your triglycerides are high also-find out. The more you know the better off you'll be.You have to assume the responsibilty for this yourself. It can be controlled and even reversed. Make sure you coordinate the excercise and diet with your doc. Good luck.
Sounds like you have blood pressure problems too. I would lay off the sugary foods and eat lots of good proteins unless you want to go blind or lose a limb.Exercise won't hurt either. Just ease into a good routine.
Act like it could be tomorrow and be proactive.
I found out I was at 40yo, 9 year later I am on an insulin pump
you are looking at a major life style change, not just a matter of avoiding one food or another. Diabetes, untreated and unmanaged, is a long slow painful way to go, suggest you get your butt off the denial couch and do something proactive to control your diet and your weight and get your life back. This website is as good a place as any to start:http://www.diabetes.org/home.jsp...
Your close to diabetic but you can stave it off if its not something genetic in your family. They will tell you to exercise at least 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. Then to cut back on carbs which produce sugar and sugary things.
They will tell you to increase fiber in your diet. Don't eat white food items (like white bread, white rice, cakes and cookies) use brown sugar or Splenda, use brown rice, eat high fiber wheat bread, protein and calcium items are okay.
The top of the numbers is 125 then they get worried.
Hope that helps you out!
P.S. the tiredness and numbness should go away just by tweaking your diet but they might have you go on the OneTouch2 Ulta for 90 days to monitor your blood sugar.
Watch what you eat
The headache and the "whomp whomp" sounds like high blood pressure in addition to your sugar issues. Have they been checking your blood pressure? As for your pre diabetes. You can control that now with diet and that is what you should do to prevent complications in the future. You should just eat a balanced diet of protein, fruits, veggies, dairy and carbs. Avoid overeating sweets and sugar, but remember that pasta, potatoes, breads, rice, corn and peas are also carbs. If you really want to learn what and how to eat you should contact your local health department, they will likely have a diabetes class you can take to learn more.
I don't have diabetes thankfully. had in laws that did. very rough stuff. Everyone thinks diabetes is too much sugar in the blood. Actually, its real cause is "fat in the blood". Not fat only on the body, but actual fat in the blood cells. This fat in the blood is what blocks the insulin etc. There's a M.D., Dr. Neil Barnard that has a book out. Basically you go "vegan". No more fat. No meat, milk, or cheese etc. Pretty rough diet I understand. This Dr. Barnard basically says if it's a vegetable you can eat it, if your not eating any animal products. On stuff like olive oil, and soybean oil, I don't know. You'd have to get the book.
cut out SOME carbs and start exercising. dont completely cut out all carbs because they're the main source of energy for your body
FYI-carbs are what make the blood sugar rise not the grams of sugar something has
i sufferer with type two and i do sufferer with the weight of well just like you and it is hard to tell when u will actually become diabetic. you might stay type 2 diabetic instead of becoming type 1 and then u might have tablets and you might have insulin with type 2 diabetes.
Also watch what you eat and also avoid sugar and any thing sweet. But you can have cakes and biscuit in moderation

Pray for Kaleb?

PRAY FOR BABY KALEB ~~ KEEP THIS MOVING!
Kristy Reynolds and her husband are parents to a beautiful little baby boy named Kaleb. He is 6 months and 3 days old. A couple weeks ago Kristy picked Kaleb up from home care and noticed something was wrong. She immediately took him to the hospital where he was diagnosed with Shaken Baby Syndrome. He now has meningitis in response the the surgeries on his brain, his body can't regulate his temperature, his heart rate drops every time he is moved, and he has seizures. He is also blind. His sitter shook him so hard that he is in a coma, had to have spinal fluid drained from his brain, and doctors think that if he lives he will be a vegetable for the rest of his life. Brain scans show that his brain tissue is dying and his brain is shrinking. Kristy and her husband refuse this diagnosis and pray for their little boy. I'm asking you to join them in this prayer for Kaleb. Her myspace is:

Answer:

Oh my gosh. I am so sorry! I have copied and pasted this into a new e-mail and am e=mailing this to everyone on my list. I hope you all do the same. I will be praying for this family. Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention.
I'm so sorry to hear this. You all are in my prayers.

Pravochol & muscle weakness?

I'm taking Pravachol. I took it a long time ago and had a lot of muscle pains. I couldn't get my cholesterol down low enough with only niacin %26 diet so my Drs but me back on it. They also gave me CoQ10 to take to keep the muscle pain down. I was OK for a while, but now the pain is back even with a higher dose of CoQ10. I'm also having trouble walking. I used to be able to walk over 3 miles per day without much trouble, but now I hit the wall before I finish a mile. My legs feel like lead and I'm in a lot of pain. So I'm not exercising like I used to. Is this muscle weakness serious? Is there anything else I can do? (Lipitor is worse for me!)
Answer:
You should really discuss this with your provider. Muscle pain and weakness is a reason to go off the medicine. You cholesterol must be really really high for them to want you to stay on it this badly and you didn't say you had other factors like high blood pressure or diabetes. There are a couple of newer medicines on the market now-Omacor which is a very concentrated omega 3 fatty acid-I have had great luck with it in my patients with high triglycerides and cholesterol. Also zetia which will block the absorbtion of cholesterol in your gut.
pravachol and all statines cause muscle fatigue u need tomake test called CPK..if levels are 40 times more than normal you have to stop the drug immediately...very risky..

Prank followup HUTY?

remember this I Got Pranked!?
My friend gave me a bottle of soda spiked with bleach. A couple of minutes ago. ha ha ha I feel sick. wasn't that a great prank. I think I am in a life and death situation.Edit:
Called poisen controll whats a good way to vomit something about syrup
Answer:
you will probably be ok, depending on how much bleach they put in it... i drank bleached iced tea at work once when someone forgot to empty the urn before brewing it in the morning... i threw it up right away, and work sent me to the er... the er doctor was a total jerk, and said only 5 year olds do this kind of thing cause they don't know better, then sent in a psychiatrist type to see if i was suicidal. so, if you go to the hosp, hopefully they are nicer to you than they were to me.
Syrup of IpecacAnd no that was not a good prank it was horrible prank
Try using the syrup that they said to vomit, if that doesn't work, try milk and if that doesn't work go to the hospital to get ur stomach pumped
Ipecac Syrup. Get it NOW!!!!!

Power of prayer?

as in my earlier post i said that my hubby was diagnised with Globastoma multiforme about a month ago. Between doing other scans and test a month has elapsed and he is very much ok. the headaches he was experiencing are all gone and he is going around doing his business as usual.we have been praying alot and we have faith that he is gonna get healed. GBM is deadly and since ma husband appears to be doing fine i told him that we shud beleive in the power of healing and prayer and somehow the tumour will go away.Coz what i have read about this tumour and the symptoms my hubby has are two different things. i dont want to overulle the docs judgement but i also want opinion on power of prayer.
Answer:
In 2000 when I was diagnosed with a reoccurance of my cancer, I was given 0% with less than a month to live. I told the doctors that I would get a miracle. I told them God gave me a miracle before to be in remission the first time and he will do it again. They told me it would have to take a miracle. I did go into remission and have been in remission since. One of the doctors said to me when I went into remission..definitely prayers! I do have a lot of faith and I believe in the power of prayer. I had many churches and people from all around the world that were praying for me that I didn't even know. With prayer, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! even the impossible!!
I will keep your husband in my prayers!
I have personally seen faith make a difference. That is what people need to help them to push on.
Faith is very powerful.
Yes prayer indeed is power because prayer is the weakness of God. In fact Jesus said, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened to you..."
my brother in law was diagnosed with the same evil tumor about 1 1/2 month ago too. He had surgery and they removed 95% of it.. he is currently on radiation and chemo.
and everyone is continuosly praying for a miracle as well.
I also believe that the power of prayer is very strong, and if you really have faith, miracles can happen.I wish you and your husband so much luck.
I hope he and my brother in law are miracle survivors..
I believe in god all the way and i have total faith my neighbor was dieing slowly of a liver cancer after praying for 1 month he was slowly healing that was 1 year ago and he is still living i believe that if u continue to pray and ask for the lords help he will reward u if u deserve it good luck and i hope ur hubby get better and is cured. With love and hope.
Pray if you want to. Prayer gives emotional strength to deal with horrible situations such as cancer for those that have faith. Prayer has no effectiveness against the cancer itself though. As you know, GBM has one of the worse prognosis of any cancer. However, there is alway hope. If you seriously want novel approaches to treating GBM, I suggest you contact one of the following:1) Vaccine therapy using ones own tumor. Dr. Samuel Hassenbusch, a neurosurgeon at MD Anderson, is treating his own GBM with a hybrid approach using this therapy. So far, he has been in remission for over 2 years. He maintains a blog which he seems pretty responsive to questions.2) Avastin and Camptosar treatment by Dr. Henry Friedman at Duke University.3) Experimental anti-angiogenesis drug ZD6474 by Dr. Howard Fine at the National Cancer Institute.
Of course -- the power of prayer is AMAZING ! Prayer has gotten my butt out of more crappy situations than I can count. And to everyone reading this : Pray for this individual ! He needs you !

Potty training at daycare?

My 2 1/2 yr old daughter has been pottytraining at home with only like one accident a day all weekend. At daycare she had 3 accidents and came home with a wet diaper.. I think she is so occupied by the other kids and being outside to ask to go. What can i do i think my daycare provider will work with her but i dont want kiera to not go on the potty at daycare and then revert back to diapers at home to.. What can i do?
Answer:
My daughter did that, too... she would decide she had better things to do than stop to use the bathroom and would have an accident. (She also would decide she had better things to do than stop to eat and would throw fits hours later when she realized she was ravenous.)It would be great if you could have the day care provider have her stop to use the potty every couple hours, no matter what. I had to do that with my daughter many times. I can't tell you how many times she insisted she didn't have to go, and by the time I brought her to the bathroom, she realized she could barely hold it!
I would stress to the daycare that you are potty training at home and let them know what kind of practices you are doing. I'm sure they will be willing to help in every way...or atleast should. They need to be taking her to the bathroom frequently and not waiting on her to tell them.
If she is using the potty at home without accidents, the diapers need to go away. You can't get her to be a "big girl" while she's still wearing baby diapers. It might be she is too occupied and doesn't care to go to the potty. Why should she when she has a diaper on that will keep her dry. Put her in pullups or training panties and if she goes in them she will not like it. I bet she won't be too busy to go potty after that. I've potty trained 3 boys all before 2 1/2. Trust me on this. Praise the fact that she's a big girl and lose the diapers.

Postero-anterior chest X-ray...?

If a person is facing away from me, so I am looking at their back, their right lung should be on my right and their heart apex should be pointing to my left.On the postero-anterior chest X-ray, why does the right lung appear on my left and the apex of the heart point to my right? Is the image being flipped horizontally? And if this is the way they are done, why are they done this way?
Thanks
[I hope that I haven't made a stupid mistake in my explanation and that you all can understand my explanation!]
Answer:
X-rays are always viewed as if the patient is facing you. This is the anatomical position So, when you are looking at a chest x-ray, the heart (on the left side of the patient) is on your right side. If you hold up your right hand, the heart/left side of the patient will be on that side. When I went to x-ray school, I had such trouble with this. It can be very confusing. I do not know why the medical field started hanging x-rays this way, but they do!I hope I am interpreting and answering your question correctly.update your question if I am misunderstanding you!EDIT: It does not matter if the chest x-ray is taken PA or AP, the heart (left side) always hangs to the viewer's right side...EDIT #2:Yeah, I guess you can say it is being flipped horizontally. As you are looking at the x-ray, the patient's left side is on the viewers right. All x-rays are viewed that way. A mammogram of the right breast is hung on the viewer's left side. A right hip x-ray is hung on the viewer's left side.Remember it is as if the patient is in front of you facing you.
If the x-ray is taken posteriorly, it's taken from behind you, so you are seeing the back of the lungs. If it's taken anteriorly, it's as though someone else is facing you - left and right get reversed.
i dont really understand what you are saying but i thought it was posterior-anterior? (sp?)
POSTERO-ANTERIOR MEANS FRONT TO BACK. SO IT SHOULD BE VIEWED THAT WAY,IN WHICH CASE EVERYTHING WOULD SEAM FLIPPED. POSTERIOR IS YOUR FRONT AND YOUR ANTERIOR IS YOUR BACKSIDE.
A chest x-ray is taken PA so that the heart is closer to the cassette. The farther away the heart is from the cassette, the more magnified it appears on the final image, giving it a false impression of heart enlargement. This is the same reason that the lateral is taken with the left side closest to the cassette instead of the right. X-rays are viewed as though the person is facing you, so yes, it is flipped horizontally.Oh, and dekhandprincess? Posterior is the back and anterior is the front.

POST RETIN A stories?

ANY1 whos usin retin a please tell me your stroy and tell me what week it got worse and what week it started clearing up PLZ BE VERY detailed !!!!!!!!!!...
thanx
Answer:
the first 3 months or so you will be very impatient bc you will ot notive much of a difference. after about 5 months you will starte to notice a significant difference but it deopends on how bad your skin is, bc when i was in highschool i had horrible acne liek covered in it and when i strated to use that my skin cleared up very quickly and now my skin is completly clear. you just have to be patient for the first few months.
I think after about 3-4 weeks things finally started getting better. At first they seemed to get worse though.
Hi i used Retin A face cream when i was 16. I hated it but it worked. In the summer i got sunburn and i never burn i am mixed so usually i just tan but i was very burnt, i nthe winter any time the wimd blew i got windburn , i got to the point when i touched my face i wanted to cry. I does its job but the side effects are nuts, mine never got better. Good luck but if you are still having problems talk to your doctor. I quit the cream and started using Dove soap and cocoa butter cream everyday. It works.

Possibly ringworm?

I have what looks like ringworm on the lower leg, about half way down and on the side of the leg. its about the size of a quarter and is red and itchy, and it weeps if i scratch it. i have fairly dry skin, and this rash/ringworm thing comes back every year at the start of winter (so around may (i live in the southern hemisphere, so its winter now)) and lasts for a few months. i am seeing a doctor about it tomorrow, but ive gotten in every year for about 5 years now. I'm 21.
Answer:
Could be eczema. See a doctor.
It does not sound like ring worm at all. it certainly would not recur at the same time every year. You may well have a bit of Psoriasis which is inflamed by the weather. There are so many possibilities of what it might be, without seeing it one could not really hazard a guess. I am sure your Dr will sort it out for you.Good luck
Ringworm presents with a circular rash, and it generally is on the feet or hands. I spent three months with Psoraisis, it was missdiagnosed three times. If I were you, I would see a dermotologist.
dont listen to Paul W. My best friend has this exact problem at the exact same time (beginning of winter) every year. It is ring worm and the doctor can help it (not completely cure it unfortunately).

Possible rabies infection?

Hubby brought home a bat from work that had been flying around the shop for about an hour during the day. He found the bat under one of his hats and cought the bat in a cup and brought it home. We both not thinking hadled the bat without gloves. As far as we could tell no bites or saliva on our hads and we did wash afterwards. We released the bat back into the wild. Should we take precautions for rabies or just wait it out. I'm kinda nervous because the bat was out during the day. Wasn't aggressive or anything.
Answer:
I would have a doctor check at least one of you out. You are probably fine, but it is better to be safe than dead.

Possible Marijuana Allergy?

I'm an avid concert attender, and well, a frequent activity at concerts would be the people toking up. I've gone to outdoor venues with minimal effects, but as soon as I went to my first indoor arena I felt something weird. The people next to me decided to smoke a joint after every song; my throat got really sore (or swollen, I can't tell), and it felt difficult to breathe. About six songs into the set, I had to take a walk outside, because I was gasping for breath, but it eventually died down within a half hour.Last night, I attended another indoor concert, with the people next to me and in front of me both smoking. I knew the feeling was going to come, so as soon as it hit, I tried leaning my head back. I felt a pull in my throat, like a dull stab, but I'm not sure if it was just really dry or swollen. Is this a sign of a possibly serious allergic reaction?
Answer:
Ya, it is not a joke. I am allergic to Marijuana as well. Every one makes fun of me and thinks that I just don't want to do it. But no it is true you are allergic. It is the worst thing and it hurts. That is just the beginning of your reactions the more you are around it the more you will suffer and the longer you will suffer as well. The funny part is if some one just smoked you will be able to tell. Even, if they have it in their bag or pocket. Oh and especially when it is rainy weather it makes it more obvious to you on who smokes and who doesn't. You will also be able to locate some ones secret stash in a dresser, hole in the wall, vent you name it. You might still be able to go to concerts just distant your self from those who light up and I am not kidding, get a scented lotion you are not allergic to and rub it in your hands and below your nose and around your mouth that will hold you off for 40 minutes. When it fades reapply. Oh ya, and if you are about to kiss someone who smokes you should have them brush their teeth and use mouthwash. All of my ex-boyfriends stopped smoking because of my reactions. That was nice of them to do that for me but better for them in the long run. “So Sweet.” After a reaction use 2 benadryl pills and 1 Tylenol for the pain. Beware, that will make you have a early good night but it works.
Well, it's probably just the smoke--period. No matter whether it's pot or cigarettes you will probably get the same reaction. Try your best to stay away from the smoke. And, obviously....don't smoke it yourself.
Yes, that could be a marijuana allergy. MJ is a member of the poison ivy family of plants. It could also just be smoke sensitivity from any kind of smoke.
I think so. My mom has the same symptoms...but it got worse when she smoked it, she broke out in hives and stuff. Just pop a benadryl B4 u go 2 a concert, it might help
The best cure is to stay away from indoor concerts.
Sure you could be allergic! Many people are allergic to certain things.
This might be one of the things, you might be allergic to more then this!
Why don't you say something at these concerts? You have the right to be there without being subjected to such people who obviously are not legal to use or they would not be using in public like that! One can get there legal card taken away! At least here in Oregon. This is one rule that we all have to abide by or the card gets pulled and no one who is legal is going to risk this!!
Next time say something! If these people have there legal card they no better and would take something with them that does not need to be smoked!

Possible Kidney Problem?

My Left Kidney, or the area around my left kidney has been sensitive to pressure for some time now. If i touch my lowest rib (in the back) and place pressure on the spot right under that rib i feel pain, i also feel discomfort to slight pain when my body in contorted in a way that puts pressure on the spot under the lower left rib (backside)The pain is only on one side, so i'm not quick to call it a kidney problem, but if anyone knows better than I, i would rather be safe than sorry when it comes to the kidneys.thank you
Answer:
Heres a test to see if it's your kidney. Get some one to go behind you and make fist and gently knock on your back. Have them do this up and down the back going over the kidney area as well.If it hurts specifically on the kidney area you might have a problem. If it doesn't it might just be a problem with your stomach which is located on the upper left side of the abdomen. You can also take an antacid tablet and give it 15 to 30 minutes to work. If its an extreme case of gas( from fruit or cruciferous veggies like cabbage or broccoli) the pain will ease up.Try these two things and see what happens. You're talking to the queen of kidney stone and kidney problems here so when I get the slightest little twitch in the kidney area I'm all over it! Also this pain could be muscular. Theres this huge muscle called the latsimus dorsi on the back and it wraps around a large portion of the back.If that thing is at all strained or stretched too tight it'll cause pain similar to a kidney stone attack.Deep tissue massage will loosen it up and relieve the pain. Otherwise you could try taking an advil and using a heat pack on the area thats hurting. If all that doesn't work and you still have pain and it is in the back and radiates to the front you might want to see urologist for some testing.Worse case scenario, we're talking emergency room, cats scan or IVP of the kidneys and some delightful pain medicine to help you pass the stone. Good luck and I mean that sincerely! If it's not an emergency.Consider taking these supplements on a regular basis . Cranberry capsules ( One per day) and liquid magnesium/calcium citrate ( nightly). The cranberry will keep your urinary tract clear from infections and the mag/calcium will help with stone prevention and pain.

Possible jaundice?

my skin is a very light yellow colour and the doctor told me if it were jaundice it would be very yellow like mustard colour, but the whites of my eyes are yellow. he reckons its a protective layer of thick skin that my body has created over my eyes, i reckon thats bull sh*t.wot do u reckon?
Answer:
I'd get a second opinion cause it sounds like you have jaundice to me.
I'd go for a second opinion quick.
get a second opinion, see a different doctor for reasurance
I would get a second opinion really soon. Because if it is jaundice that means yor liver and kidneys are not working right and thats serious business.
both the signs are of jaundice but honey ur missing the most important poiint. U CANT EAT IN JAUNDICE! You will throw up like a mad...even a small piece of bread or pasta will just make u puke. especially fatty food will want u to throw up more than u ate. Its just water that feels ok and is the cure for jaundice too. Loads and loads of water (and fat/grase/meat free foods). Start with small portions. I agree with Stodgers and Mikie. But no need for a test if ur pee isnt orangish/brownish yellow. Also plz stay out of the sun.Ive had jaundice previously,
i reckon hes a doctor, so he should know what hes talkin aboutgo to another doctor and get a 2nd opinion
i would get a second opinion from a different doctor.
Pale motions and dark wee too ?
In any case a simple blood test for bilirubin levels will see who's bullshiffing
Well my first thing to ask is why you would be jaundiced? It's typically a sign of a liver problem. Do you have liver or pancreatic problems? Jaundice is a very noticable thing. It's not a light yellow like yellow undertones to skin - it's day glow yellow - almost like an orange color. As for yellowing of the whites of the eyes, many people of color have a slightly white conjunctiva (the white area) and in jaundice it's VERY yellow. If you feel you may be a little jaundiced, spend time out in the sun. The sun produces vitamin D in the body and helps break up bilirubin in the blood system.
I reckon it's Jaundice my friend, Especially if you're a heavy drinker or have any kind of liver disorder, which I hope not.
The symptoms of jaundice are extreme weakness, headache, fever, loss of appetite, severe constipation, nausea, and yellow discoloration of the eyes, tongue, skin, and urine. The patient may also feel a dull pain in the liver region. Obstructive jaundice may be associated with intense itching.
Jaundice may be caused by an obstruction of the bile ducts which normally discharge bile salts and pigment into the intestine. The bile gets mixed with blood and this gives a yellow pigmentation to the skin. The obstruction of the bile ducts could be due to gallstones or inflammation of the liver, which is known as hepatitis, and is caused by a virus.
Other causes of jaundice are haemolytic anaemia and certain diseases affecting the liver such as typhoid, malaria, yellow fever, and tuberculosisYour doctor could be right but if you are having any of the other symptoms i would deffinately get a second opinnion.
this is symptoms of jaundice, so i would say it is.
It might be Jaundice and sometimes it can go away with certain procedures, Keep a eye on it and have your liver check often. Take Care.
to diagnose a jaundice disease, doctors should perform general blood test, liver function test and also urine and stool test. have u undergone these test? We cannot say this is jaundice by just depending on your skin colours or eye colours.
Please have your Doctor schedule a liver biopsy !! Don't mess around with this !! They can perform miracles today !!! But they have to catch it in time ! It is better to be safe then sorry !
See another doctor. Ask for a blood test called LFT's (liver function test). This will show the amount of bilirubin in your blood, if your bilirubin is above 17, it is abnormal and it will be classed as jaundice. As other people have said, you may have dark urine and pale stools too. This is because bilirubin is in the wrong place. Out of curiousity, how old are you? and do you drink, do you have any family history of liver disease, have you been to an exotic country recently, shared needles, had a tattoo, taken any new drugs or herbal drugs recently? these are all risk factors for liver disease hepatitis etc.

Possible ear drum perforation?

Occasionally the pressure in my right ear changes so that I am able to hear my own breath much more distinctly (as if I covered both ears and breathed in and out). This happens sporadically and eventually goes away. Any idea what this is and if it is an ear drum perforation or ear infection?
Answer:
It is totally possible that there is fluid trapped in your ear and the shifting of the fluid is causing your changes but there is no way of knowing without looking in your ear. I suggest you see your family doctor as trapped fluid often becomes an infection. Please see your doctor to find out if you do have fluid in your ear and if antibiotics are needed or if you have another issue going on.

Possible diabetes?

Okay, so this happens a lot. I will all of the sudden start sweating and feel really aweful and shaky. But if I get something to eat after this happens I feel perfectly fine. What would this be, it happens all the time.
Answer:
How often does this happen? It sounds a lot like you keep having low blood sugars. Are you doing anything when this happens? Or are you just relaxing or sitting down? I myself have diabetes and know exactly what you're going through. I would get to a doctor asap and ask them to test you for diabetes. Like I said, it sounds just like you keep having low blood sugars, especially if you feel fine right after you eat.
These are symptoms of hypoglycemia, low blood sugar. You can have a blood test done by your doctor that can do an average of what your blood sugar levels are for the past 3 months. Your doctor can than decide if you are diabetic. You may be waiting to eat meals too long.
Sounds like hypoglycemia, which isn't Diabetes, but it puts you at risk for developing Diabetes type 2 later in life. First of all go to a Doc!! But, to ease symptoms untill then, I would stick to lean protein (not necessarly meat) and lots of veggies, and a couple high fiber fruits like berries. See if you can level it out a bit better. Hope you feel better!
This is something that happens to a lot of people. You're hypoglycemic at the time when you're experiencing this. You can check with your doctor about having diabetes, but I doubt it. You just need to eat when you first start feeling hunger pangs, not 5 hours later!
sounds like hypoglaecemea to me...r u drinking any alcohol?? skipping meals?? if its fine after u eat then eat little and often to keep the sugar levels on an even keel..change to a healthy balanced diet and lay off the rubbish processed foods and im sure ull b ontop of things...good idea to go see doc too for diabetes test and liver function test aswell!!
Hypoglycemia would be my guess. My husband has it. It is a type of diabetes. It is when your sugar goes to low or drops to fast. Eating protein every few hours will help keep your sugar level even. You should call our doctor and get tested to help get it under control, it can turn into diabetes if not controlled. You can also end up passing out due to a drop in your sugar so it's best to eat something small with natural sugar or something very small with man made sugar until you can eat a meal

Possible causes: headache, dizziness, poor coordination?

My wife has been having some of these symptoms lately. She has no health insurance. Should I start saving for a gun to put an end to my miserable life in this "greatest country on God's green earth"?
Answer:
Must be a man thing.. all joking aside, my husband went into a depression after I had a young stroke and still does some days. The best you can do is think of her and not how you are right now. Insurance or not this does sound serious, or potentially so. Hospitals do have plans for those without insurance and they can be paid down as well for as little as $25/ month. Been there done that and still paying. I have what is considered a rare disease, but it is slowly being found to be common. It is Antiphospholipid Syndrome. Without treatment it can be fatal. It could be other things as well, but as a blood test can determine this, go for the least expensive first.

I checked some of your other questions and it seems to me the problem is with you? You were a musician, now have hearing problems, want to be a plumber, cannot motivate yourself to get off the computer no wonder your wife who has a pscy major is having these symptoms.
I'm not a dr but it sounds like it could be inner ear infections. The inner ear is where we have our balance. I know. I've been there.

Positive UA for alcohol caused by diabetes?

I recently entered treatment for alcoholism and did the urine test. It came back positive for ethanol, and the glucose screen was positive also. I had not had a drop of alcohol in 24 days at that time (am now on day 37!) Someone told me that it has to do with fermentation of sugars in the body. I am having trouble finding information on this, and would appreciate any help!
Answer:
According to the websites I just checked, high glucose levels can indeed cause an alcohol false positive. Just type in "diabetes and alcohol false positive" and sites will pop up for you. Good luck on your treatment.
I just talked to my doctor friend who works at a lab. He reports that that someone with diabetes may excrete a large amount of sugar in their urine. If they also have a yeast problem, the yeast will attack the sugar and create the chemical reaction of alcohol.
Congrats on your 37 days !You should go to an endocrinologist and get checked for diabetes.Good luck to you. Keep strong.

Posion Ivy?

Can you catch poison ivy from a person if they have it?
Answer:
POISON ivy...and yes
it is very contatious stay away
Definately! If you've touched them, wash with gasoline! It cuts the oil!
No.
I think you could if they had poison oak.
Not when it's dry
If they have scratched and touch something, you can get it if you touch what they touched soon after. Ages ago, My mom caught it when they were building our house and burned some by accident.. got in her eyes, nose, and throat. However not everyone is allergic, I've never had it.
Yes, and be careful of the clothes they were wearing when they got it also. once the oils are washed away from their skin and clothes you cannot catch it.
It is very likely to catch poison ivy from another person for a certain period of time. After a while, the contagious matter of it is depleted, and you no longer have to worry about it. One sign of this is when the skin drys, and bubbles in some cases. It is the most obvious sign that the threat of catching it is eliminated.
yes you can! many healthcare professionals will tell you no, but the juice that seeps out will spread the stuff.

Posion Ivy?

i have discovered i have posion ivy...what can i do to prevent it from spreading..and how contagious is it?
Answer:
Poison Ivy can be very contageous, especially if your rash is oozing. The first thing you want to do is dry your poison ivy out...there are a few products for that from calamine lotion to ivy dry. I recommend the ivy dry, it's a great product and works quite well. To help with the itching, you can take oral benadryl (will make you tired). If the rash is really itchy, you can also put hydrocortisone cream on it (as long as the area isn't oozing with open wounds) or you can also put something cool on it to stop the itch. Either a cool washcloth or even a frangrence free lotion in the fridge to get it cold and apply it. Hope you're feeling better soon...
here is a product called Tecnu that firefighters use when they have to go in the woods. It works really good. Go to longs or wherever, And its only able to spread to other people if you hav'nt washed off the oils. (if they catch it).Once you have the rash you cant spread it. Like if someone rubbed up against you they wont get it.
I've tried all the "PRODUCTS" out there to dry up poison ivy and the only thing that works better then ANYTHING on the market is an old remedy that my FATHER taught me as a girl. you take fresh horseradish root and wash it off and put it in the food processor to grind it up to an almost powder---then, put it in a bowl (don't mix this in your processor)... and add Chlorox (yep bleach) and stir it up till it makes a rather THICK paste. spead this paste onto the poison ivy spots being VERY CAREFUL not to drip any of the stuff on a rug or your clothes ----it will bleach them out, cover this with a light gauze... put this paste on a couple times during the day and by the next day, it will be almost GONE.takes ALL the itch out almost immediately too..
