Possible ear drum perforation?

Occasionally the pressure in my right ear changes so that I am able to hear my own breath much more distinctly (as if I covered both ears and breathed in and out). This happens sporadically and eventually goes away. Any idea what this is and if it is an ear drum perforation or ear infection?
Answer:
It is totally possible that there is fluid trapped in your ear and the shifting of the fluid is causing your changes but there is no way of knowing without looking in your ear. I suggest you see your family doctor as trapped fluid often becomes an infection. Please see your doctor to find out if you do have fluid in your ear and if antibiotics are needed or if you have another issue going on.
